The Burning Post II

The Burning Post II is a roleplaying-enforced MUD set on a small island that has been ravaged by mages, demons, and invading forces. The roleplay primarily revolves around mages and the priests/knights that hunt them. The code has been upgraded substantially in the past year, and the staff looks forward to welcoming new players interested in seeing exactly what we have to offer. Most character concepts don't require immortal approval, so once you get your character looking as you'd like and set the appropriate skills, you can jump right in the game!

In addition to the Orderites and Reeves, guilds include the merchants, the thieves (Brotherhood), the Chimerists (a scholarly organization), and the reeves (secular law enforcement).

We hope to see you in New Yarsith!

The Final Challenge

The cave is dark, shadows stretching across the stone floor like reaching fingers. Pine needles scatter the floor, tossed in by the ever present breeze that flows over these southern mountains. Faint traces of moonlight from outside are all that illuminate its single occupant. The warrior moans in his sleep, the evidence of uneasy dreams written clearly across his face. Crying out, he thrashes madly, warning in incoherent mumbles of the terror to come. On his guard even in sleep, his hand shifts to grasp his blade. The low hoot of an owl marks the hour of midnight. With a loud CRACK! a portal opens, and you are faced with the choice: Dare you enter this realm of dreams within the mind of the sleeper? Or will you flee this nightmare?

Live since 1994, The Final Challenge MUD has continued to grow and evolve with an active coding staff. TFC has unique opportunities for adventure, roleplaying and exploration. A God-Follower system, RP, PK, PVP and PVE, automated quests, multiple home cities for each of the eleven races, 8 classes including a custom Bard class and over 150 zones almost all of which you won't find anywhere else makes The Final Challenge a mud for experienced player and newcomer to muds alike.

Come and explore our website or our very extensive player run wiki, which includes biographies of Immortals and Players, maps, world and racial histories, help for new players and many many gameplay logs.

The Inquisition: Legacy

One of the oldest role-play MUDs around, The Inquisition began in 1999 with an original theme and has been programmed and designed for immersive RP ever since. The Inquisition Legacy represents a re-opening of The Inquisition II with a new immortal staff.
Our world embraces the culture of oppression in its desparate goal to destroy all those who use magic. Inquisitors terrorize the populace, and mages hide as best they can until their moment arrives to strike back.
Our setting is rich in the manner only a game developed for over twelve years can be, and we have a superb base of creative, intense, and devoted players that drive our Machiavellian-style RP.
In turn, our players are supported by intuitive system tools that help them realize the extent of their storytelling capacity: They can modify room descriptions during RP, masquerade under aliases, spread rumors, keep track of IC events, make and sell objects, and much more.
Experience gained through RP can be used in an account to improve their other characters, and finding RP is as easy as typing 'where'.
  • Developed solely for an intense role-play experience (RPI MUD).
  • A unique emote-based combat system.
  • A support system that adds social intelligence to our IC politics.
  • Hands-off staff policies designed to help players shine.
  • A magic system built to intrinsically support the RP theme.
  • A remember system allowing players to customize how they see others.
  • Automated Role-play rewards for advancement without staff interaction or approval.
  • Player revamping of rooms with mood text and a high degree of  world customization to suit RP scenes.
  • A detailed crafting system and realistic economy to support it.
  • A shop system for players to sell their own wares.
  • Code-enforced privacy policies to respect player RP and prevent staff spying.
  • A snapshot activity system to dynamically reserve roles and  authority for current players instead of entrenching old players versus new.

The Last Outpost

"Three generations ago, The Empire was overrun. The Last
Outpost, a small coastal trading community located deep in the wild, was spared from most of the fighting and survived. Life in the Outpost is not easy, and many of the finer things from the old Empire are absent. The residents of the Outpost are descended from the survivors of The Fall, a tough and adventurous breed. They are well suited to the task of reclaiming the land once tamed by their forefathers."
Along with exploring and advancing through the game world, The Last Outpost offers players the ability to lay claim to the zones that make up the land. Once claimed, a zone can be taxed, and the player making the claim gets to decide the player killing policy within the zone. Whoever claims the whole world is declared the Leader of the Last Outpost!
The Last Outpost has a large unique world, player elected
clan membership, player regulated pkilling, and a hands-off policy for gods.
The game accepts both IPv4 and IPv6 connections, and has a built in shell-like CLI with arrow history, hotkeys, and tab completion. The game does not require additional client software, and connections made through the web page are SSL encrypted.
Whether you enjoy hack 'n slash, following quests, PvP, NPK, playing in clans, or soloing, the Last Outpost has it.

The Last Sunrise
The Last Sunrise is a Wheel of Time mud based off of the series by Robert Jordan. It is the world that we are set in for the role-play and the parameters set forth for the code. It is not necessary to have read the books to enjoy the world that has been created. If you like mudding then you will enjoy our mud. I’ll attempt to touch on some of the finer points of the game that we have to offer.

Role Players – We offer experience points for role playing as well as quests and prizes for just role playing.

Player Killers – We offer races for your taste such as a trolloc who is half man/half beast that craves the flesh of humans. Or a soulless - a human who gave his soul to the Dark One so he can move about unseen/undetected; the perfect assassin.

Explorers – We offer a wide range of areas with hidden details and secret rooms and areas that will have you finding something new every day.

We do not restrict you to a single class what abilities/skills you have is determined by how you the player create your character. This means you can be a jack of all trades or a specialist in different fields. With an extended leveling code you can continue to enhance your character beyond the normal range that other muds have to offer. There is only a single determining factor when building your character. Do you channel (use magic) or not? Each has their own perks and bonuses as the primary damage that a channeler does is through their ability to weave spells.

Some of the special code that we have to offer is listed here. This is not all of it but just a few of the more choice selections.
  • Map Code – I have not found a mud that has anything that compares to what we have accomplished with this code.
  • Texas Hold’em – We have all played this game now hook the fish and take his gold and quest points.
  • Portal Stones – Channies (Magic Users) have gate and portal now warriors can move about from one portal stone to another. You only have to figure out the three key combinations to your desired destination.
  • Auction Houses – With multiple skills that allow for real craftsmen to make armor, weapons, jewelry or other special items players can sell multiple goods.
  • Dream World – Almost a Carbon Copy of the world but with twists and quests and code and mobiles that bend the rules as any dream will.
  • Clans/Guilds – With over 10+ clan/guilds you can ensure interaction with other clan/guilds. If that interaction is friendly or unfriendly you and your mates decide.
  • Subguilds – Allows for even more range of political fun and treachery.
  • Tguilds – Allows for an even more in depth political intrigue and interaction.
  • Minion – Have followers and grow your minions amongst your fellow players.
  • Marriage Code – Have a private channel for you and that special someone else.
  • Spark Code – Allows a non-channeler (Non Magic User) to suddenly be able to channel. They still get to keep the perks of being a nonchanneler as well. Very powerful and every time you level you have a shot of being one of them.
  • Wolfkin Code – Instead of deciding to have a chance to spark you instead decide to have the chance to have golden eyes. This also gives you the enhanced ability to smell through disguises and masks. It also allows you to spot soulless as they try to creep up on you.
  • Myrddraal – Trollocs cannot choose to be a channeler so if they choose to have a chance to spark then they become Myrddraal’s. They lack eyes so cannot be blinded and have the ability to step into a shadow and emerge from another shadow anywhere else.
  • Bounty Code – Allows you to place a bounty on someone you can’t kill or who you want to pay for an offense or a slight.
  • Arena Code – Allows you to do mortal combat against a foe as a group or in single combat.

We have a wide range of skills and abilities. I will list a few of them and give you a brief summary of what they do.
  • Trap System – Multiple types of traps each with different affects and chances of success that you can determine and set up.
  • Range Combat – This can range from throwing weapons to grenades of black powder to using a bow and arrow. With over seven different types of arrow heads that have different affects when successful or unsuccessful. Down to the marks so the arrow is untraceable or personalize it so they know who just took a shot at them.
  • Masteries – Learn the different forms needed to become a blade master or a duelist. Each mastery has its own strength and weaknesses that allow for a wide range of styles.
  • Brew – A potion system that is unlike any other that I have seen on any other game. It is totally customized and makes for great commerce.
  • Jewelry making – Mine for the gems and ores yourself or buy/trade from someone else and customize your own pieces of equipment. This is by far a great way to customize your character and make it truly unique.
  • Gem Setting – Set gems into a piece of equipment to enhance them beyond the norm.
  • Forge – Forge a piece of armor or a weapon.
  • Disguise – Allows you to impersonate NPC’s great for thieves and assassins.
  • Riding – Allows you to move across an area quickly and easily a great piece of code. It also allows you to gain cavalry as well as flanking, charging and trample. Mounted combat is well thought out and solidly coded.
Channelers (Magic users) have a wide range of spells at their disposal. As it is in the books a channeler bases their abilities off of the five spheres fire, earth, water, air and spirit. These five spheres affect how strong your ability is to cast spells. I will list a few of the perks of being a channeler.
  • Range Attacks – Weaves spells from a distance and try not to get blood on your cloths.
  • Mask – Take on the appearance of anyone.
  • Tornado – Grabs your opponent and brings them into the room with you from multiple rooms away.
  • Flash – Blinds everyone and everything in the room.
  • Weapon of Power – Create weapons from the five elements to protect or attack.
  • Cuendillar – Enhance your equipment and make it unbreakable in the process.
  • Enchant Armor – Better then the stock weaves that are out there.
  • Enchant Weapon – Better then the stock weaves that are out there.
  • Fireball – Hits an entire room from 6-rooms away.
  • Lightning Bolt – Hits everyone within 6 rooms in a single direction.
  • Hail Storm – Hits everyone in a 3-room radius.
  • Tsunami – Hits everyone in a 6-room radius.
  • Gateway – Allows you to open a gateway from the room you are in to another location on the mud.
  • Portal – Opens a one-way portal to any other location on the mud.
  • Burn Projectile – Attempts to stop arrows from assassins who try to kill you from a distance.
  • Group Slice – Attempts to stop another channeler from casting at you or your group.

This is just the tip of the iceberg as far as what The Last Sunrise has to offer as a free online mudding experience. We have been open for over 12 years and there is no slowing down in sight. Come and check us out you may have just found one of the best muds on the net.

War of Legend

After a few years in limbo, War of Legend is back, with one of the original immortals "Radyth" connecting the MUD is ready to rock! Are you?

Are you tired of the same old Godwars muds? Maybe you like them, but wish there were more classes to choose from. Perhaps you enjoy a place where you get to completely destroy your enemies. Does this describe you?

If so, welcome to War of Legend.

Here we offer a broad variety of classes, most of which are completely original and exclusive to this MUD. Those that aren't original have completely revamped skills and abilities. With 8 base classes, 22 subclasses, countless variations of each and hundreds of skills to choose from, you have the ability to customize your characters like nowhere else.

War of Legend does not play like a typical Godwars MUD. Statistics play a significant role in your success. Items are generated with the randomness similar to that in Diablo II. No two pieces of equipment obtained from creatures are ever exactly the same. There is also a set of unique items to purchase that will advance you to the highest levels of strength.

War of Legend offers a special system of forging to enhance and upgrade your weapons and armor as you see fit. With this system you can advance your equipment through six tiers of growth, each building on the previous tier. With socketable jewels that add special bonuses to all of your equipment you can become a serious force among your adversaries.

Gold is the currency here. With it, you have the means to purchase uniques and forge your equipment. You can purchase tattoos, which add a vast array of stats and enhancements to make you stronger. Materia are available, which is an item that grows as you grow, each with a different and substantially powerful affect.

You will journey through a progression of one hundred levels. At the end of that journey you will have an opportunity to achieve mastery of your class. With mastery you gain an item and ability unique to your class that sets you apart from your peers as well as puts a definitive stamp on that class. With each passing level you grow in strength, receive access to more skills, and develop more of a combat prowess.

Combat in War of Legend is dynamic and diverse. Skills and abilities exist that support ranged combat, stealth combat, damage over time spells, arena combat and countless other features. The more you fight and win, the stronger you can become.

So whether you prefer to shoot your enemies from a safe distance with a bow as a Sentinel, sneak up on them from the shadows as a Ninja, rip them to pieces as a Demon, lay down the wrath of your god as a Zealot, call upon the forces of death as one of the Undead, unleash the fury of your fangs and claws as a Werewolf, or annihilate them with the jumping skills of a Dragoon, come see if you have what it takes to fight in the War of Legend.
